Description
A black and white version of a wide-angle view of the stunning Rock of Cashel, with a frosty-white tree adding an extra layer of magic to this infrared image! It's like a fairytale scene, of an ancient winter wonderland.
Rock of Cashel is a medieval Gothic cathedral and castle with parts of the stone architecture dating back to the 12th and 13th centuries. Being from Canada, where nothing is all that old, I always find it a little bit surreal being in places like this with so much history. It gives me chills to think of all the people who have touched those stones before me, over thousands of years. Maybe even some of my own Irish ancestors!
I used my infrared-converted camera for about 90% of the photos I took in Ireland. The surreal glow of green foliage captured with IR photography seemed a perfect compliment to all the ancient stone ruins covered in moss and ivy.

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
